A short while ago IPSS Medical Rescue received reports of a motor vehicle accident on the R102 near Fairbreeze, Tongaat.
On arrival of paramedics it was established that a taxi and a light delivery vehicle had collided head-on.
The two occupants of the light delivery vehicle were entrapped and had sustained critical injuries. One of the occupants was able to be extricated by bystanders and the second occupant had to be extricated by Tongaat Fire Department. The two patients were stabilised on scene and transported to hospital under the care of IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedics.
Two people from the taxi sustained serious injuries and a third person from the taxi sustained minor injuries. The injured were stabilised on scene before also being transported to nearby facilities by IPSS Medical Rescue.
Multiple other taxi passengers were fortunate to escape injury.
