In April 2021, Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH), one of South Africa’s largest hospitals, suffered extensive damage from a massive fire. The critical medical stores facility was particularly affected, resulting in the destruction of millions of Rands worth of medical supplies and equipment.

In September 2022, Gift of the Givers took on the task of constructing a completely new, modern stores facility at CMJAH. Just 8 months later, Gift of the Givers successfully handed over the new facility, now operational and serving all residents of Gauteng.

This new facility stands as the largest medical stores building in South Africa, a testament to Gift of the Givers commitment to infrastructure development and improvement. The construction of this facility amounted to a cost of R60 million, showcasing the organisation’s dedication to diverse projects that contribute to the betterment of healthcare infrastructure.
