Two Mozambicans, a Zimbabwean and a South African National have been arrested by Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Ethekweni – Kwazulu Natal.

A Reaction Officer travelling on Old Main Road between Tongaat & Verulam in KZN noticed suspicious activities between four males. The Officer kept observation and noticed fuel being transported in a white Izuzu Bakkie.

The Officer called for back-up when he realised that the men belonged to a syndicate that were stealing fuel and were sought after for several months.

Reaction Officers boxed in the bakkie and recovered the fuel. When interviewed the men informed RUSA Members that they would approach staff at construction sites and trucking/transport companies and steal diesal.

The stolen fuel would then be sold for R300 per 25 liter containers.

Reaction Officers arrested 32 suspects within a week for committing serious offences.

Several stolen vehicles and unlicensed firearms were also recovered.

All suspects were handed over to the South African Police Services (SAPS).
