Between Monday 21 July and Thursday 24 July 2025, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Taxi Violence Combating Team (TVCT) Unit, South African Police Service (SAPS) and Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP), conducted a joint operation in Thokoza and Benoni.
The continuous operation on Operation Show Discs, resulted in fourteen (14) taxis being impounded. Taxis that were found unroadworthy and operating without the operator discs, were taken to the Alberton EMPD pound.
This operation is an ongoing law enforcement operation on taxi-related transport, it seeks to ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Act and to address lawlessness in public transport in the City Of Ekurhuleni.
