The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Zonkizizwe Precinct Officers, attended to an accident/crash involving two trucks, on the R550 road, not far from the Sky City in Thokoza area and four occupants, sustained serious to slight injuries.
Onlookers alleged that, a driver of the white Tata Truck, who was travelling west on R550, lost control of his vehicle and collided with the white Hino truck, which was travelling towards East. Both trucks were badly damaged in front. The 24-year-old male driver of the white Hino truck, transporting bricks, was alone in the vehicle, at the time of the crash and he sustained slight injuries, before he was taken to the Tambo Memorial Hospital, for medical treatment.
The white Tata Truck, which was used to transport bread, had three occupants between the ages of 40 and 45 including the driver. The man behind the steering wheel and one passenger, sustained slight injuries and were transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital, for medical treatment. The other passenger sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Chris Hani (Baragwanath) Hospital for medical treatment. Both vehicles, were towed by their respective owners and taken to their yards.
It is not clear at this stage what occurred before the crash and currently, no arrests effected. A case of reckless and negligent driving, is opened at the Kliprivier police station and investigations, are underway.
