Fezile Dabi District conducted a Safer Easter holiday roadblock on the N1 on Friday, 27 March 2026, as part of efforts to promote #RoadSafety during the busy Easter holiday period. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (Free State), Gauteng Traffic, Ngwathe Traffic, and the Department of Public Safety. The Roadblock was conducted under the command of Lieutenant Colonel De Vos, the Station Commander of Parys.

The objectives of the roadblock were to enhance road safety and reduce accidents, injuries, and fatalities during the Easter holiday period. The operation also aimed to enforce compliance with traffic laws, including valid driver’s licenses, adherence to speed limits, and ensuring vehicle roadworthiness.

Furthermore, the purpose of the roadblock was to detect and deter illegal activities such as drunk driving, unlicensed driving, and the transportation of illegal goods. In addition, the initiative focused on increasing law enforcement visibility along the N1 to discourage reckless and negligent driving behaviour.

It also aimed to promote public awareness on safe driving practices and responsible road use while strengthening collaboration between participating departments for more effective service delivery. Another key objective was to ensure that vehicles transporting goods or livestock complied with relevant safety and legal requirements.
