A 40 year old female was hospitalised after she was struck by a runaway truck tyre on Gopalall Hurbans Road in Tongaat – KZN.
A passerby reported the incident to the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Tongaat Operations Centre.
On arrival, it was established that a rear tyre on a FAW tip truck came loose while the vehicle was in motion.
The tyre thereafter struck the pedestrian. The female suffered moderate injuries.
She was stabilised on scene by Paramedics from a private ambulance service before being expedited to hospital by ambulance.
