The #SAPS in Hoedspruit, in partnership with Hoedspruit Farm Watch, achieved a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking after arresting two suspects aged 38 and 43, found in possession of a large consignment of dagga valued at more than R1.5 million.

The arrests were effected on Thursday, 11 June 2026, at about 13:30, when members conducted an intelligence-led operation and intercepted a vehicle travelling from Acornhoek towards Hoedspruit.

During a thorough search of the vehicle, police discovered 31 bags containing dagga with an estimated street value of approximately R1 575 000 (One Million Five Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Rand).

Police confiscated the dagga as evidence and seized the vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the offence, a white Toyota Hilux Twin Cab.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, applauded the members involved in the operation and the ongoing support provided by community policing structures.

“The seizure of drugs with such a significant street value is a clear indication of our commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks operating within the province. We commend the vigilance of our members and the valuable partnership with community stakeholders in ensuring safer communities,” said Lt Gen Hadebe.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 June 2026.
