Members of the Pixley Ka Seme district Crime Intelligence assisted by the Public Order Policing Unit, apprehended and arrested a 29-year-old male on Friday, 10 March 2023 after acting on information regarding alleged illegal drug activities and possession of illegal firearms at a house in De Aar.
The team operationalised the information and obtained search warrants and raided the said house.
The team managed to confiscated mandrax tablets, tik bankies and recovered two (2) what could be unlicensed firearms and ammunition hidden in the house and R1620-50 cash.
The police are investigating the enquiry opened in connection with what could be unlicensed firearms at this stage as tests needed to be done to determine their legal standing.
The 29-year-old male is expected to appear in the De Aar Magistrate’s court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.
The Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, Major General Nomanda Mtukushe lauded the collective team for the meticulous and professional search and seizure that led to the arrest and recovery of what could be suspected illegal firearms.
The proliferation of illegal firearms remains a priority for SAPS and unabated efforts will continue to address this crime.
