A 67-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after he lost control of the truck he was driving and collided with some trees off the R545 between Bethal and Kriel in Mpumalanga at around midday today.
ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 12:30 along with the Fire and Traffic Departments, SAPS and the Provincial EMS. The man was found entrapped in the cab of the truck. Due to the challenges of heavy vehicle rescues, the local Fire Department struggled to extract the man. Once he was free ER24 was able to make a proper assessment and found that he’d suffered significant injuries to his lower extremities. The patient was treated with Advanced Life Support interventions and transported to Bethal Provincial Hospital for further care.
The cause of the collision is unknown to ER24, however SAPS were on scene for further investigations.
