A man was robbed while delivering bread to tuck shops in Cottonlands – KZN this afternoon (Wednesday).
Tracker contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at approximately 13:14. Information received was that a white Hyundai H100 bakkie was hijacked by two armed suspects. No information regarding the driver and his assistant’s location could be immediately confirmed.
Tracker provided Reaction Officers with GPS coordinates to the bakkie. Officers responding to the call received an update that the vehicle began travelling on Vincent Dickenson Road in Cottonlands towards Verulam – KZN.
RUSA Members intercepted the vehicle and established that it was being driven by the victim. The elderly male explained that while conducting bread deliveries he was confronted by two armed suspects who robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, his wallet and cellphone before they fled on foot. A resident witnessing the incident contacted his employer. The caller believed that the robbers were in the process of hijacking the vehicle. The owner thereafter activated the tracking device.
The victim was not injured.
