KZNVIP Ambulance was dispatched to the scene after receiving multiple calls from passing motorists requesting immediate medical assistance following the crash.
Reports from the scene indicate that the traffic signals were not working at the time and whilst the heavy motor vehicle was turning towards glen anil, the bakkie could not slow the vehicle down fast enough and crashed.
The driver of the bakkie was severely entrapped and stabilised by KZNVIP Medics together with the assistance of Fire Department and Medic Henry. The patient was safely extricated and loaded into an awaiting KZNVIP Ambulance before being rushed rapidly to a nearby medical facility.
The passenger of the bakkie also sustained moderate injuries and was transported to hospital.
All emergency services were in attendance.
