Just before 14:00, the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for a serious motor vehicle accident involving a bakkie and truck on Solomon Mahlangu drive close to Castle Gate shopping centre in the Waterkloof Ridge area of Pretoria East.
On arrival we found one patient in an overturned vehicle trapped inside the vehicle, complaining of severe back pain. City of Tshwane Firefighters used specialised hydraulic equipment (Jaws of life) to free the patient from the wreckage, once freed the patient was quickly stabilized on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital under Advanced Life Support care. The driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries.
Thank you to Emer-G-Med, ER24, City of Tshwane Emergency Services, Bull security and Seek security for assisting with the scene.
