Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were standing off on Jabu Ngcobo Drive near the Cottonwood Drive entrance in Trenance Park – KZN after receiving reports of children trapped under the debris of an overturned trailer.
A motorist who witnessed the incident informed Reaction Officers that he was travelling behind the Volvo truck and trailer loaded with sheets of glass weighing several tons.
He further explained that a group of children were standing on the roadside when the trailer overturned and lost its load.
The male immediately stopped and stated that he did not witness the children fleeing and believes that they are trapped under the debris.
The Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services are on scene and in the process of searching under the broken glass.
