On Wednesday 27 August 2025 at 19:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Anti-Cable Theft southern region unit Officers, arrested one (1) suspect in the Germiston area.
With the continuous patrol around the area, following multiple incidents involving cable theft, Officers stopped a suspicious white Hyundai H100 on Victoria road. A search was conducted, when x3 20meter of aluminium cables were discovered in the vehicle.
Officers requested the driver to produce documentation for the cable he was transporting, but he could not produce any.
The thirty-four (34) year old was arrested and detained at Germiston Police Station, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen essential infrastructure. He is expected to appear at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
