MasterDrive is assisting South African businesses prepare for the planned implementation of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) Act in all municipalities in January.  A second AARTO for Managers Workshop will be held on 23 November 2021.

Fortunately, the implementation of the demerit system is planned to only start in July of 2022. This provides companies with adequate time to start preparing and upskilling managers on what is required and expected of them in order to operate their fleets within the confines of the new law.

Various adjustments to the act have been proposed and are still being discussed before they can be signed into effect. It is also noted that moves were made by various organisations to delay implementation – given the problems with the implementation agency, RTIA– but it should not be taken for granted that they will be successful. Preparation for its eventual full implementation is something that should not be delayed as any business caught unawares will suffer dire consequences.

Thus, it is essential to make the most of the additional time received due to the delay of the demerit system until July 2022.  Start preparing for the act by understanding what is required of companies and by rectifying bad driving behaviour. Neglecting this can have a significant impact on your company once drivers start receiving demerits for traffic offences and violations.

MasterDrive’s virtual training session will provide the information that you need to prepare from an administrative point of view as well as provide guidance on how to prepare your drivers. For more information on the virtual session and pricing, taking place on 23 November 2021, contact us by emailing info@masterdrive.co.za or by calling 086 110 0618.
