For those of you using the N2 between Richards Bay and Pongola/Piet Retief and in Mpumalanga, this is of importance to you.
WIND TURBINES
Wind turbines will again be moved today, tomorrow and for the next few weeks on Mondays/Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Mondays
The Tower sections (6 Sections on 6 trucks every Monday) will be moved from Richards Bay to just outside Piet Retief where they will layover overnight. On the following morning they will continue to a farm between Ermelo & Bethal.
Tuesdays
3 Blades will be moved every Tuesday to the layover point outside Piet Retief and then move on via Amsterdam and on to the farm between Ermelo and Bethal on Wednesday mornings.
As these blades are “fairly light”, these rigs will move at a fair pace, but when the blades are moved, (although only 3 at a time) the convoy will be almost 1 km in length.
Please plan your routes and trips accordingly!
These wind turbines will be installed to help power up a mine and supply feed to the ESKOM grid. There are 111 turbines that need to be installed, each with a Hub Height of 200m and a tip height of 300m.
It is envisaged that these turbines will power up Seriti’s Coal Mine and about 500 000 households in the area with uninterrupted power.
