A truck transporting charcoal and travelling towards Walvis Bay caught fire on the Dr Hifikepunye Pohamba Freeway approximately 7km from Swakopmund earlier this morning.
Emergency and essential services were able to contain the fire and prebent total distruction by using foam.
The driver received medical attention at the scene when he apparently sustained an injury to his ankle when he jumped from the truck.
