The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety reports a serious accident on the N1 between Mookgophong and Mokopane. A heavy motor vehicle has overturned and is currently blocking two of the northbound lanes toward Mokopane.
To avoid delays as the northbound direction lanes are closed, please use alternative routes as follows:
Motorists travelling from Mokopane toward the north are advised to exit the N1 at Mokopane, follow the R101 to Mookgophong, and re-join the N1 southbound after Mookgophong to continue toward Kranskop. Drivers approaching from the Kranskop direction should use the R101 via Mookgophong to bypass the blocked section.
At this stage the cause of the collision and any injuries are still under investigation. The roadway will remain closed while emergency services work to remove the heavy vehicle and clear the scene.
