MUSINA – A cross-border bus heading to Johannesburg from Malawi was impounded , at the Boabab Toll Plaza, Musina on Thursday, June 04.
The bus was loaded with 65 passengers with valid passports. Upon inspection by C-BRTA and other law enforcement authorities, it was discovered that, the bus is not roadworthy, as it had missing wheel nuts and bolts, worn-out tyres and the exhaust pipe has been tightened with a wire.
The vehicle was taken to the Musina testing station where it was certified that the brakes were malfunctioning and had a lot of AEM defects.
This bus posed a significant risk to other road users. The C-BRTA says it is committed to reducing carnages through enforcing compliance and raising awareness about road safety.
