Over 6 and 7 September, Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, David Maynier, marked major flood recovery milestones across the park, including the handover of three rebuilt culverts on the H4-1 between Skukuza and Lower Sabie, the official reopening of the Letaba High-Level Bridge, and a visit to Letaba Rest Camp, where 25 tourism units have already reopened.
The projects form part of ongoing efforts to restore infrastructure damaged by recent floods and strengthen resilience for the future.
“When the Kruger Park succeeds, SANParks succeeds,” said Minister Maynier.
These milestones coincide with the launch of the 21st annual South African National Parks Week, offering free day access to participating national parks from 7 to 13 September in celebration of South Africa’s natural and cultural heritage.
Joined by SANParks Board Chairperson Beryl Ferguson, Tourism and Marketing Committee Chairperson Rachel Nxele, CEO Hapiloe Sello, and Managing Executive: Kruger National Park Oscar Mthimkhulu.
