The Tshwane Metro Police Department Overloading Control Unit (OCU) conducted road safety operations focusing on heavy motor vehicles in Centurion and Akasia on Thursday, 22 January 2026.
During the operations, a total of 142 heavy motor vehicles were weighed and inspected for compliance at the TMPD Weighbridges. Amongst those, 92 overloaded trucks were found to be exceeding their legal weight limits.
These trucks were issued with infringement notices for non-compliance, preventing them from proceeding further until the load is corrected.
The TMPD will continue to maintain a high visibility presence and conduct regular operations. We remain steadfast in our mission to restore order on the roads of Tshwane and ensure that all motorists adhere to the law.
