A successful multi-disciplinary operation conducted in the Nkangala District has led to the recovery of stolen property and the arrest of a suspect following a house robbery at a farm in Delmas. The operation was executed on 14 August 2025 at approximately 05:50.

Police received information regarding a house robbery that had occurred at a farm near the Kusile Power Station. It is alleged that five armed suspects forcefully entered the premises and stole the following:

A silver Ford Ranger Club Cab
11 sheep
A blue and black generator
A silver fridge
A pair of jumper cables
A silver BMW loaded with 50 egg-laying chickens
Five cellphones
With the assistance of a tracking company, law enforcement managed to locate the stolen Ford Ranger, the BMW, and an additional silver Mazda believed to have been used by the suspects during the commission of the crime, all spotted on the R42 between Bronkhorstspruit and Delmas.

A high-speed chase ensued, during which the suspects abandoned the BMW. While some officers secured the scene around the abandoned vehicle, others continued pursuing the Ford Ranger. During the chase, a Mazda Etude attempted to block officers from overtaking but later crashed, allowing the pursuit to continue into eTwatwa, Daveyton (Gauteng), where the suspects eventually abandoned the Ford Ranger and fled on foot.

The abandoned Ford Ranger was recovered with 11 sheep and 50 chickens still inside.

Further investigation led to the arrest of one suspect who had been driving the Mazda Etude. Following his arrest, police conducted a preliminary investigation which led them to Bronkhorstspruit in Gauteng. There, additional stolen property was recovered, including:

A black and blue generator
A black and red jumper cable
A silver fridge
A silver and black blank firearm with one round of blank ammunition
All recovered vehicles were booked at Delmas Police Station, and the recovered stolen property was booked at Bronkhorstspruit.

A 35-year-old male suspect from Mozambique has been arrested and charged with house robbery and contravention of the Immigration Act. He is expected to appear before the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on 18 August 2025.

Police have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges being added as the investigation continues.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the collaborative efforts of all police units involved, as well as the valuable assistance provided by the tracking company, for their role in ensuring the swift recovery of stolen property and the arrest of a suspect.
