Earlier today, a truck carrying fireworks, valued at approximately R4 million, was hijacked in the Camperdown area.
Thanks to a swift, intelligence-driven operation, our Durban Metro Police Service Drug Team, in collaboration with the EThekwini Municipality Infrastructure Task Team, followed up on information that led them to a location in Phoenix.
Three African males were apprehended while offloading the stolen goods at a Hindu Temple. The truck, along with the fireworks, has been successfully recovered.
Due to the highly flammable nature of the goods, the South African Police Service Bomb Squad has been called to the scene.
