In the early hours of the morning IPSS MEDICAL and IPSS SECURITY responded to the scene of an attempted hijacking on the N2 near the Tugela Bridge.
A truck carrying medical supplies was traveling north when a vehicle attempted to have him pull over, when the driver failed to comply they opened fire on the truck leaving the driver with multiple gunshot wounds.
The driver lost control of the truck and left the road, coming to rest near the Tugela Bridge.
The driver was transported to the hospital under the care of IPSS Medical advanced life support in a critical condition.
It appears several boxes were removed from the truck. The scene was secured by SAPS and will be investigated further.
