MEC MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae deploys a yellow fleet in Mafube Local Municipality, Villiers.
This morning, the yellow fleet arrived in Villiers as part of MEC’s program to assist and intervene in municipalities to fast-track service delivery in the community. The team will be blading and levelling of identified internal roads (for ease of movement of basic services vehicles (SAPS,Health, SASSA etc) and removal of illegal dumping sites.
The MEC emphasizes that illegal dumping sites pose health risks and not only are dump sites breeding grounds for insects, but they become hot spots for animals that transmit diseases and in most cases, children are vulnerable to this environmental risk. In the neighbourhood air, land, water and soil pollution are primarily caused by illegal dumping sites.
