
The Gauteng Provincial Counterfeit Unit, working together with Brand Protectors and Border Police, have seized a total of various items valued over R5 million, in two operations against counterfeit and illicit goods in the province.
The operation in Ekurhuleni District on, 9 June 2025 were coordinated in four shops being visited in Springs, which resulted in 3,929 counterfeit toys and consumable goods being seized. These items are valued at R679, 010.00.
In a separate incident in Johannesburg District, an operation was conducted on, 6 June 2025, in Langlaagte, resulting in the seizure of branded disposable face masks, valued at over R4 million. Investigations by Border Police, are currently ongoing in one of the shops.
