A 32-year-old man was left seriously injured this afternoon when his truck overturned on the N3 south-bound highway near the Hammersdale turnoff in Hammersdale, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 06h00 to find a large truck and trailer lying on its side on the side of the road. A man, believed to be 32-years-old, was found lying trapped inside.
Fire Services, along with paramedics, had to use specialized equipment to free the man from the vehicle, an operation lasting more than an hour.
Once freed, paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a serious condition.
Paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was transported to RK Khan Provincial Hospital for urgent care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
