At approximately 07h00 on Thursday Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the R38 between Barberton and Badplaas for a heavy motor vehicle crash.
Whilst they were approaching the scene an injured male was found on the side of the roadway. He was asessed and found to have suffered a broken arm and moderate injuries. The man explained he was driving a truck on the pass when he lost control of the vehicle, leading to it careenining down the embankment.
The man managed to free himself but due to the lack of cellphone signal in the area he was unable to call for help and decided to walk approximately two kilometres before he was able to call for help.
He was treated and stabilized on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
