A 15-year-old male was seriously injured after he was run over by a truck while fleeing robbery suspects in Ottawa – KZN.
A member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was traveling north on the R102 when he stopped to assist a grade 11 learner who was lying in the flow of traffic.
Several other scholars were standing around him in an attempt to prevent other vehicles from running over him.
It was established that the seriously injured male was walking to his residence in Parkgate from Phoenix with two friends when they were confronted by four suspects who attempted to rob them.
The teenager fled into traffic in an attempt to escape but was struck by a four-ton Isuzu truck. The suspects fled the scene on foot.
Traffic was diverted to a single lane while Paramedics stabilised the scholar.
