On Wednesday 07 May 2025 at 11:30, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit Officers in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, arrested four(4) males between the ages of forty-one(41) and fifty-four(54) for possession of stolen property in the Putfontein area.
Following on information received from a well-known tracking company about a hijacked white UD Truck, Officers acted on the information and with the assistance of the tracking coordinates that led Officers to an address on Kingsway Road. Upon arrival Officers found the truck abandoned with no occupants and its load was missing.
Upon investigating, information was received about where the load could be, Officers proceeded to a residence on North Road, where they cornered the four (4) suspects caught in action cutting the copper bars that was carried by the alleged hijacked truck.
Officers immediately handcuffed the suspects and were taken to PutfonteinPolice Station, facing charges of possession of stolen property. They are expected to appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
