Gift of the Givers teams have successfully reached Eksteenfontein in the Richtersveld Municipality, Namaqualand, Northern Cape.

This marks the first humanitarian assistance to reach the province in a span of 7 days. Due to torrential rain, the banks of the Buffelsrivier overflowed, causing severe damage to roads, bridges, infrastructure, and disrupting communication networks. Despite the challenges, the teams managed to travel a distance of 60km in three hours, recognizing the importance of delivering aid to the resilient and patient community.

Food parcels, hygiene packs, blankets, and bottled water were distributed to the community in need. The team have made progress by assisting 155 families and gaining entry into the region, there is still a long journey ahead as approximately 6,000 families urgently require assistance.
