Gauteng: At 07H08 Tuesday morning, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the N14 Diepsloot.

Reports indicate that two heavy motor vehicles were involved in a collision.

It is believed that one of the trucks transporting scrap metal had broken down when a second truck transporting chicken waste slammed into the rear of the first truck.

When medics arrived on scene they found that the driver of the rear truck showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on the scene by Gauteng EMS.

A heavy-rig tow truck was used to separate the two trucks, allowing the Johannesburg Fire and Rescue services to use hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver trapped in the mangled remains.

The driver of the first truck was not injured.

Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
