Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the N2 in the Umzumbi area for reports of a collision.
When emergency services arrived they found that a truck and car had been involved in a collision, resulting in the truck leaving the road and crashing down an embankment.
Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that 1 patient, a young child, who had sustained critical injuries. The patient was treated on scene, but sadly the patient succumbed to their injuries, despite the efforts of Advanced Life Support Paramedics.
A second patient sustained serious injuries and was trapped in the truck. Together with Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue services, Paramedics worked for over an hour to free the patient using specialized rescue equipment.
The patient was then transported to hospital for further treatment.
