Just after 21:00 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for a serious motor vehicle accident involving a truck on the N1 southbound before the R21 interchange. On arrival we found 1 patient with critical injuries entrapped in their vehicle after colliding with a stationary truck. The patient required Advanced Life Support intervention while City of Tshwane
Firefighters had to use specialized hydrolic equipment (Jaws of life) to free the patient from the wreckage. Once freed the patient was transported to a nearby hospital under Advanced Life
Support care. No other injuries were reported on scene.
SAPS and TMPD was on scene to investigate.
