• Due to the latest Level 1 Disaster Management Declaration, we decided to continue with our legislation workshops in May and June 2021. Our workshops in November 2020 were attended by much smaller numbers than normal due to the limited numbers allowed at the time. We have since then received several enquiries regarding our annual workshops, and we decided to continue with arrangements for the workshops. I will be the only presenter. There are still some restrictions on gatherings in place, but we should have sufficient space for all delegates who wish to attend. All the venues have assured us that they practice social distancing and are compliant with all the Covid-19 requirements for gatherings.
  • Our 22st Annual Road Traffic and Transport Legislation workshop dates and venues are:

Stellenbosch    –      Protea Hotel, Technopark                  –      25 May 2021

Durban               –      Garden Court, Marine Parade           –      27 May 2021

Pretoria             –      CSIR, Lynnwood                                     –      10 June 2021

WEBINAR          –      To be confirmed                                    –      22 June 2021

Our first webinar last year provided for a steep learning curve and we decided to schedule a webinar for delegates who do not want to attend at one of the venues on a separate occasion. We will be recording the CSIR event and I will be available during the screening to answer questions. This is the only sensible way to ensure the delegates on the day receive full attention and the webinar delegates are not inconvienced by tea and lunch breaks and connectivity problems.

Topics for discussion at the Workshops are similar to the presentations presented last year, as we had many delegates who normally attend who could not attend in November. We have had developments on the AARTO  draft Regulations, the NRTA Bill is currently discussed in the Portfolio Committee on Transport and   the Border Management Act has been signed. We are still waiting for the President to sign the NLTA Act and the Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) has indicated that the AARTO roll-out for the rest of SA (in force in Tshwane and Johannesburg) and the demerit point system will be going ahead on 1 July 2021.

  • The National Road Traffic Amendment Bill, B7-2020
  • The Economic Regulation of Transport Bill, B1 – 2020
  • The Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act, 1996 as amended
  • The National Land Transport Amendment Act, 2016
  • The Border Management Act, 2 of 2020
  • The Registration fee for the workshops (venues and webinar) is R3 400,00 per person (VAT Included) and includes the workshop documentation, an updated copy of the NRTA, refreshments and lunch.   We are an ECSA member: SARF17/ASA01/20. Unfortunately, hosting a webinar is more expensive than hosting a workshop at a venue – therefore the similar pricing.
