ALS Paramedics responded to a multiple casualty scene on the Hella Hella Road outside of Richmond toward Ixopo.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos as they found that a truck carrying labourers to work somehow lost control and veered off the gravel road colliding with a tree.

Approximately Sixty (60) workers had sustained various injuries and multiple Ambulance services worked to stabilize them on the scene before they were transported to various Pietermaritzburg and Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

Unfortunately one female believed to be in her fifties had sustained major injuries and there was nothing Paramedics could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene.

At this stage the events leading up to the crash is unknown however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.
