On 09 February 2023, 16 Maintenance Unit held a stable parade to ensure the combat-readiness of the Unit and serviceability of the vehicles in the Unit.

The Officer Commanding of 16 Maintenance Unit, Lieutenant Colonel J.Z. Somdaka and the Unit Second in Command, Major E.L. Mashoane conducted the detailed inspection that was prepared by the Transport Company Commander, Major H.J. Tshivhanda, Second in Command Transport Company, Captain T.M. Setati, and Technical Service Corps member, Warrant Officer Class 2 M.E. Malatji.

Lieutenant Colonel Somdaka reminded the drivers to always thoroughly inspect the vehicles prior and after each trip, take care of the vehicles and not misuse the vehicles, and always fill in the log books as required. “It is also important to ensure that history files of each vehicle correspond with the activities of every vehicle and that incidents are recorded as such,” she said.

She furthermore stressed the vital role that the Unit plays such as the logistical support to different deployments and exercises. “We provide an essential service within the Army and must always ensure that we are combat-ready at all times,” she highlighted.
